At the heart of this project are a pair of life-sized sculptures of the A-bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. We seek $8,500 for a project – Suspended Moment – which includes an exhibit of Kawano’s devastating sculptures accompanied by Meshi Chavez’s Butoh dance. We invite community members to take a Butoh workshop and participate in the performance. With our initial funding, we will take Suspended Moment to Hanford, WA and Los Alamos, NM, which gave birth to the nuclear problem.
